The Sixth ‘Transformers’ Movie Will Be a Bumblebee Spin-Off

A release date for the Bumblebee spin-off was recently announced along with the dates for ‘Transformers 5’ and ‘7’.

Hasbro recently announced release dates for the next three “Transformers” movies. Turns out one of them will be a Bumblebee spin-off, which was first teased by Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner back in 2005.

The company confirmed it with a tweet of the release dates. “Transformers 5” is set to arrive June 23, 2017 Stateside. The next installment in the film franchise or the Bumblebee movie is slated for a June 8, 2018 release, while “Transformers 7” is due out June 28, 2019.

Tom Warner, the “Transformers” franchise leader for Hasbro, further explained the plans at an investor conference call for Toy Fair. “This summer we worked closely with a talented team of A-list screenwriters to map out the future of the ‘Transformers’ cinematic universe, and as Brian announced earlier, things kick off in a major way in 2017 with the release of ‘Transformers 5’ in June. And we’re working on a spin-off movie centered around Bumblebee for 2018 and the next chapter for 2019,” he said.

On the June 8, 2018 release date, the Bumbebee spin-off will clash with “Godzilla 2”. While it’s unclear if the spin-off will feature any of existing or new human characters, “Transformers 5” will bring back Mark Wahlberg as the lead.
