Bangladesh speedster Mustafizur Rahman will play for Sussex in the 2016 NatWest T20 Blast, revealed the website of Sussex Cricket on Wednesday.
“Sussex Cricket are delighted to announce their second overseas signing of the summer with the news that Bangladesh’s left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman will be arrive at Hove for the T20 Blast competition,” said a post on its website.
With this move, Mustafiz will become the first Bangladeshi player to play for Sussex.
It also says the left-armer will be playing with fellow cricketer Ross Taylor, another overseas recruit in the competition.
In his reaction, Mustafizur said, “I am very excited to get an opportunity in county cricket. It has always been an ambition of mine to play in England and I am thankful to Sussex for this opportunity. I hope I can repay the faith they have shown in me with my performances on the field.”
“I am really excited to have Mustafizur join us at Sussex Cricket. He is a cricketer with incredible ability and is currently one of the bright young talents of world cricket,” Sussex’s head coach Mark Davis quoted to have said on the website.
Mark Davis also said, “His unorthodox bowling variations make him a very difficult customer to bat against, and he will be a brilliant addition to our team.”
