The Russo brothers, who are set to direct the two-part film, reveal the two Marvel characters’ involvement.
More Marvel superheroes are joining the “Infinity War” against Thanos. The Russo brothers themselves confirmed in a recent chat with ComicBook.com that Star-Lord and Thor would also make appearances in the third “The Avengers” movie.
“The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU so you don’t want to get into spoilers but I’m a big fan of what James Gunn has done. [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done,” Anthony Russo said when teasing Star-Lord’s surprising involvement.
“Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you’d be very excited,” he added. However, there’s still no word if Star-Lord’s fellow “Guardians of the Galaxy” will come along and fight with him in “Infinity War”.
When talking about Thor reuniting with the other Avengers, Joe Russo also dropped some hints at what fans could expect from the character’s upcoming solo movie, “Thor: Ragnarok”. “I’m excited to work with Thor. They’re doing some really interesting stuff with ‘Ragnarok’ and where he’s gonna be at the beginning of ‘Infinity War’ is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound, ” he said. “I think he’s gonna have a real emotional motivation after that.”
“Avengers: Infinity War” will be divided into two parts with the first, “Avengers: Infinity War Part I”, scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018. The second one, “Avengers: Infinity War Part II”, is coming out a year later on May 3, 2019.
