Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan bagged a brace as his team Jamaica Tallawahs clinched the Caribbean Premier League title by beating Guyana Amazon Warriors by nine wickets in the final on Sunday.
Winning the toss, Tallawahs skipper Chris Gayle opted to field first and his bowlers soon vindicated his decision. Imad Wasim was the most successful bowler with a three-wicket haul while Kesrick Williams also bagged a brace.
Andre Russell and Oshane Thomas grabbed one apiece as none but Sohail Tanvir could master any resistance. Has Sohail not made a 42, Guyana would have suffered more humiliation.
In reply, captain Gayle hit a 27-ball 54 with six 6s as Shakib’s team stormed to victory with over seven overs to go.
