Radiohead say THEY were asked to do the SPECTRE theme – Sam Smith WASN’T first choice

RADIOHEAD have left James Bond fans shaken and stirred after claiming that they were the first choice to record the SPECTRE theme song NOT Sam Smith.

Sam Smith had a huge hit earlier this year with the SPECTRE theme song, Writing’s On The Wall.

But it seems that the British star was NOT the first choice of the Bond team.

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has stunned fans by revealing that Radiohead was approached by blockbuster’s producers.

“Last year we were asked to write a tune for Bond movie Spectre. Yes we were,” he tweeted today.

They even recorded the track, which was called Spectre, according to Yorke’s follow-up twitter post a few hours ago.

The Radiohead star also included a Soundcloud link for fans to listen to the track and mixed his film references with a timely Star Wars quote.

“As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it,” Yorke wrote.

“Merry Christmas. May the force be with you…”

Thousands of fans were quick to seize upon the news.

The (admittedly probably biased) Radiohead fans were unstinting in their praise, with many saying they preferred it to the Sam Smith track.

“CAN’T BELIEVE THEY CHOSE SAM SMITH OVER THIS” tweeted one excited fan in outraged upper case.

“Love it, atmospheric & those beautiful strings! Sorry it didn’t work out but thanks for sharing x” added another.

“This is sooooo much more amazing than what was used. Thank you Radiohead for this beautiful Xmas gift,” said one fan, summing up the general consensus.
