The senior royal’s classic 1965 British sports car has been in the hands of James Phillips, 67, from Newbury, Berkshire, since he bought it from friend Brett Redshaw 15 years ago.
The classic car fan admitted that he had reluctantly decided to part with the sought-after machine to act as his ‘pension’.
The pensioner also reunited the grateful royal, 73, with his long-lost vehicle in 2010 and insisted that the vehicle holds a special place in the prince’s heart.
“We’ve done everything in it really and we don’t go out in it in the rain and the snow anymore.
“We just want to pass it on to someone who is going to look after it.
The 4.2 litre coupe has clocked up 28,000 miles in its history and still comes in the original colour of Opalescent Dark Green with a tan interior.a
