New Zealand 409 at stumps against Sri Lanka

New Zealand were 409 for 8 at stumps on the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Dunedin on Thursday.

Martin Guptill top scored with 156 while Kane Williamson added 88 and Brendon McCullum 75.

For Sri Lanka, who won the toss and elected to bowl, Suranga Lakmal took two for 69. Nuwan Pradeep and Dishmantha Chameera both took two for 101.
