The project will have her star opposite Sandra Bullock and reunite with ‘The Hunger Games’ director Gary Ross.
Jennifer Lawrence could be the next generation of Ocean’s Eleven. The 25-year-old actress’ name is put on top of the producers’ list of actors to star in the film’s new and female-centric franchise.
Lawrence’s involvement in the reboot has been long thought for because the movie will reunite her with “The Hunger Games” helmer Gary Ross. However, Tracking Board reported that it was not until recently that Lawrence landed in the shortlist. Sandra Bullock has been courted to lead the pack in the Warner Bros. movie while Lawrence is touted to play Bullock’s right-hand woman.
Beside directing and producing, Ross is writing the screenplay with “Queen & Country” scribe Olivia Milch. The plot is currently unknown but it’s expected to center on Bullock as Danny Ocean’s sister. “With a team of thieves, she sets out of steal a necklace from the Met Ball and frame a crooked gallery owner,” a synopsis from Tracking Board read.
Rumor has it, the untitled Ocean’s Eleven project will be more of a spin-off than a reboot, thus making it possible for the cast from the Steven Soderbergh-directed film to make an appearance. The project itself reportedly was the brainchild of Soderbergh, late Ocean’s producer Jerry Weintraub and the 2001 film original cast Clooney.
Filming is scheduled to start next fall but no release date is announced yet.
