PASSENGERS were left horrified after their plane skidded off the runway just minutes after landing.
Two people suffered injuries while a third reported chest pains after the incident, which took place as the Boeing 737 was being taxied to its gate.
All 133 passengers were left stuck on the jet as fire engines rushed to the scene.
Reginald Smith Jr, a passenger on the plane, said it was ‘terrifying’.
“We landed, we were coasting and then we were bouncing up and down and the next thing you know… it felt as if we were about to topple over as we were going into the ditch,”
The Southwest Airlines flight had travelled from Houston to Nashville before the routine journey to the gate went horribly wrong.
Emergency vehicles later raced injured passengers to a local medical centre to receive treatment
The disturbance is being investigated by officials from the Federal Aviation Administration.
A statement from Southwest Airlines said: “At approximately 5:20 p.m. local time, Southwest Airlines Flight #31 from Houston Hobby Airport to Nashville International Airport exited the taxiway shortly after arriving into Nashville, as the airplane was approaching the arrival gate.
“The 133 Passengers and five crew members were safely evacuated from the plane and bussed into the airport, and our Employees are currently working to support their needs.”
