MUSIC icon David Bowie has been cremated in a secret ceremony without his friends or family present.
The legend had asked to be sent off “without any fuss” and no public memorial.
A source close to the Space Oddity singer said: “There is no public or private service or a public memorial. There is nothing.”
The pop icon had been battling liver cancer for 18 months and was quietly cremated without a funeral service shortly after his death.
A source in America said: “In many respects you don’t need a memorial or service to remember David by… you have his music instead.
“He would have wanted to just disappear with no fuss, no big show, no fan-fare. This would totally be his style.
“His last album Blackstar was very much his goodbye to fans instead.”
His producer Tony Visconti wrote on social media: “He always did what he wanted to do.
“And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way.
“His death was no different from his life – a work of art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift.”
Despite the singer’s wishes for a quiet send-off, his fans have arranged a memorial concert.
