Indian Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor spoke on the issue of growing intolerance in the country in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, reported the India Today.
‘Today we feel ashamed when foreign newspapers report of mounting intolerance in India,’ Shashi Tharoor said.
‘A friend of mine from Bangladesh was saying that it’s safer to be a cow in India than a Muslim,’ added Tharoor.
Tharoor then praised the way PM Narendra Modi handled the crowd during the bomb blast at his Patna rally before Lok Sabha elections.
But asked, ‘I want to know the same what has gone wrong with Modi, who displayed great sense of responsibility during the bomb blast at his rally to avoid panic?’
‘We cannot promote Make in India abroad while promoting intolerance in the country,’ Tharoor added.
‘The Kerala house inspection happened on the day when there were 50 African Heads of State in town, all of them eat beef. What impression would they have got?’ said Shashi Tharoor.
