When it comes to 2016 movies, there is no film that I am looking forward to more than Captain America: Civil War… it is promising to be the biggest Captain America film yet.
Civil War is the third standalone film for this popular character and comes two years after the critical and commercial success of Winter Soldier. Sadly, we are going to have to wait until the end of April before the film finally drops but the first trailer has FINALLY arrived.
I have been looking forward to seeing the first footage from the film for so long and – as a first trailer – this really doesn’t disappoint. The Avengers are divided and going head to head:
There really is quite an epic feel at the end of this trailer and Civil War really is promising to be the biggest and best Marvel film yet.
The movie sees Anthony and Joe Russo – who brought us The Winter Solider – back in the director’s chair and I cannot wait to see where they take the story and these characters next. It looks like it is going to be a bumpy ride for all involved that will involve making some difficult choices along the way.
Chris Evans will reprise the role of Captain America while Robert Downey Jr is back as Iron Man; this is the first time that we have seen Tony Stark in this Marvel franchise.
The duo are joined on the cast list by Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany, and Elizabeth Olsen.
The trailer did give a very quick look at Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, while Martin Freeman and Daniel Bruhl are also some of the other new names on the cast list. We should also get our first look at Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man.
For Marvel fans – and I include myself in this – Avengers: Age of Ultron was a bit of a disappointment and didn’t live up the dizzy heights of Avengers Assemble but Civil War looks set to get Marvel back on track.
2016 really is going to be the year of the comic book film and Captain America: Civil War is one that you cannot afford to miss.
Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April 2016.
