Bangladesh bowlers were equal to the India batsmen as the Tigers did not let the hosts make more than 146 in their World T20 match on Wednesday.
None of the India batsmen could make more than 30, which does say how the Bangladesh bowlers contained the Indian batsmen, but India rode on a number of personal contributions.
Winning the toss, Tigers skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza invited the Indians to bat first with a view to chase down the target in a batting Bangalore pitch.
Openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were doing a nice job before Mustafizur Rahman struck as the former gave a catch to Sabbir Rahman after making 18.
Dhawan was next to go as Shakib Al Hasan pinned him before the wicket after he hit 23 off 22 while Kohli hit 24 in as many balls, which came to an end when Shuvagata bowled him with a beautiful delivery.
Suresh Raina was the highest scorer with a 30 off 23 deliveries while Hardik Pandya added 15 in 7 balls and MS Dhoni 13 besides R Jadeja’s 12 as the ended on 146 for 7.
Besides the Tigers’ bowling, the highlight was another beautiful catch by Soumya Sarkar who ended a dangerous-looking Pandya’s innings.
Al-Amin Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets each while Mahmudullah, Shakib and Shuvagata claimed one apiece.
