10 Quick and Healthy Breakfast Recipes for Busy People

Making sure you have a great, healthy breakfast every morning is essential to start your day in the right way. The first meal of the day will set you up with a better mindset and enough energy to carry you until lunchtime. With the busyness of modern life, breakfast can sometimes be overlooked altogether or we tend to turn to unhealthy convenient choices just so we have something to keep us going and to keep the hunger at bay.

For those of us who have busy mornings and limited time to spend on making a wholesome breakfast, here are 10 quick and healthy breakfast recipes that are fast and convenient to make whilst giving you the optimum health boost you need to get you through your day.

1. Healthy Banana Bread

Make this delicious and healthy banana bread at the start of the week and it’ll serve you for several mornings thereafter. Just grab it and go, adding toppings such as peanut butter, almond butter or just on its own. Packed full of healthy banana, it will give you a boost of energy as you head out of the door.

2. Almond Butter, Yogurt and Fruit Parfait

If you want something a bit lighter that will also fill you up, this recipe will do the trick. With low-fat greek yogurt and almond butter this is packed full of protein that will keep hunger at bay until lunchtime and can be made in under 10 minutes.

3. Apple Sandwiches with Almond Butter and Granola

So simple yet delicious, this quick and easy breakfast snack will be a hit with everyone including kids. Make as many as you fancy before heading out the door as they take little to no time to construct.

4. Apple Muffin in a Mug

Mug cakes are all the rage but have you ever thought of making a healthy version for your breakfast? I love this because it literally takes 5 minutes to make in the microwave and it’s a great healthy option if you substitute coconut oil and coconut flour in the recipe. Have it with fruit or nut butter to add some extra protein.

5. Make-Ahead Freezer Breakfast Sandwich

These are great and convenient because you can make them ahead of time and defrost when you need them. You can easily adapt this recipe by adding anything you want, including avocado, tomato, spinach or use wholemeal bread if you want a healthier option.

6. Easy Yogurt Overnight Oats

Oats are full of fibre and are great at filling us up but we don’t always have the time to make porridge from scratch. This little recipe is great because it can all be done the night before and uses calcium-rich yogurt and fresh fruit. Let the yogurt soak into the oats and have the perfect healthy breakfast waiting for you when you get up.

7. 5 Minute Avocado Toast with Egg

This is my favorite recipe because it combines avocado and egg which are both a great source of healthy nutrients and is always delicious without fail. So quick and easy to make, it’ll take you 5 minutes to prepare and will give you the energy you need to get you through the morning.

8. Breakfast Egg Muffins with Bacon and Spinach

Just make these little egg muffins in a big batch and store in the fridge or freezer. All you need to do is grab a couple as you go in the morning and you’ve not had to waste any time fiddling around to make anything. A quick and convenient solution for any busy morning people.

9. Berry Smoothie Bowl

If fruit is more your thing in the morning then try this quick smoothie recipe. It takes less than 5 minutes to prepare and you can use any combination of fruit you like making this a super healthy breakfast option. Greek yogurt will ensure you feel nicely full and keep you going until your next meal.

10. Homemade Breakfast Bars

If you like the convenience of breakfast bars but feel the shop-bought ones are too unhealthy then why not make your own? This recipe is packed full of goodness and you can make them ahead of time so all you need to do is grab one and put it in your bag for the journey to work.
